Using Living Compost to Create Living Soil

Why do we want to use living compost to create living soil? And what is living soil?

When it all comes down to it, life and soil are bound to each other. Soil is made up of organic material, minerals, water, air, and life.

The living part of soil is made up of bacterial colonies, fungus, earthworms, beetles, larva, and many other creatures.

They say typical healthy soil is made up of about 45% mineral content, 25% water, 25% air, and about 5% organic matter.

5% organic matter - that's the key thing to focus on here. The living compost that we make with all of these living creatures as a part of it - this is the organic element that we’ll be making soil with, and also water and air. So now we mix this with minerals, water, and air to create living soil. It’s that simple!

Once we've created living soil we can feed the soil in many creative ways and allow creatures to move the material into other areas that we intend them to move. Again, we rely on the life in the soil to do some work for us.

So let's break this down again - organic living compost that we made, sand or other mineral material (like rock dust), air and water. From this you have supercharged soil made from things that were going to wind up in the dump, or didn't look too great under the tree in your yard. That's awesome!
